Synopsis
In his first case, the Bat-Man investigates the murder of a chemical tycoon, discovering that one of his partners murdered him to steal the secret contracts that would leave him as the sole owner of the Apex Chemical Corporation.

Indexer Notes

This is a reimagining of the first Batman story. Designed by Chip Kidd, it combines the original Bob Kane artwork from Detective Comics #27 (1937 series) with the script from the modernized version of the story that appeared in Detective Comics #27 (2011 series) written by Brad Meltzer (based on the original script by Bill Finger). The original art is blown up to a larger size, with only 1-3 panels per page. As a result, the art from original 6 page story is stretched across 29 pages.

Per the preface for this story, this is a special exclusive for this collection.

This appears to use the original art from Detective Comics #27 (1937 series), not the redrawn and censored version which has been reprinted in some places (including the first story in this collection). The initial murder victim does have the knife jutting from his back.
