Indexer Notes

Julius Schwartz's editorial records, provided by DC Comics, show Ross Andru as being paid for the pencils and inks for the cover, however Mike Esposito worked with Ross and scholars agree he inked this cover. Schwartz kept editorial records for Robert Kanigher who edited this issue (added by Greg Fischer, October 2007).

Synopsis
Robin Hood is also the Earl of Huntingdon, though Prince John has confiscated his family's castle. To keep his inheritance, Robin must ring the castle bell once a year. Launching a fake raid with his Merry Men, Robin is brought inside a "Trojan Horse" catapult. He climbs and swings to avoid the Baron Modor's guards. Finally, scaling the bell rope, he swings the bell as arrows bounce off. Having wrung three times, he escapes out a window - still the legal owner of his ancestral home.

Synopsis
Challenged by a strange knight, Robin battles but is felled by a blow. The knight is Prince John, his hated enemy, and by rights Robin must serve as his squire! Prince John and his men, with Squire Robin, hunt the Merry Men. But Robin is so "clumsy" he knocks his master off his horse and drops tree branches on the guards. Insulted, he challenges John to a duel, and his flashing blade wins easily. Still, John would have him killed, but the Merry Men rush to the rescue. A toast, "To he squire who won his spurs -- and spurred Prince John into flight!"

Synopsis
Ambushed by the Sheriff, Robin Hood is struck on the head - and goes blind! He cannot tell his men lest they lost heart, so leads by memory and feel along forest trails. Sending the men to Black Castle Crag, blind Robin meets Marian, reaches a bridge and battles a knight by sound. He even breaks an ambusher's bow with an arrow! The Merry Men are surrounded. Robin challenges the Sheriff to a duel. Struck on the head, he regains his sight to defeat his foes. "How beautiful is Sherwood," says Marian. "As if seeing it for the first time," replies Robin.
