This story appears to either be an homage to or an unauthorized adaptation of the Dragnet TV series. Joe Pride, the main character in this story, looks like Jack Webb, and his partner looks like the actor who portrayed Sergeant Ben Alexander with glasses and a mustache. Also the whole story is written like a DRAGNET episode. (information from Anthony William Durrant)
