Aquaman is repeatedly torn between dilemmas to save sea life, submarines, sinking ships, and more. Each time he makes a difficult choice, he finds the other choice was saved by an old seafarer who leaves three mysterious holes at every scene. When Aquaman himself is saved, the old man reveals he's King Neptune - with his three-pointed trident. Neptune retired when a new "King of the Sea" arrived - Aquaman!
