- Actor Rod Taylor as George is not given a last name in the film, but is believed to be portraying Herbert George Wells (H.G. Wells). When the time machine's control panel is shown in the film, a nameplate can be seen in the center that reads "Manufactured by H. George Wells". In the original novel, the character has no name, just "the Time Traveller".
