While her daughter Jane has no talent, Lillian Cooper pushes her to become a star and uses Glen Cooper to get her in the school show. After the play, when Glen is no longer of use, Mrs. Cooper works to get rid of him. But years later she's interested again when she hears Glen is now a television producer. Lillian connives to get Jane a role in Glen's show, and he reluctantly agrees so that he can be with Jane. The performance shows clearly Jane has no talent and is living Lillian's dream. But Jane has still won Glen's heart.
