On the way to the biggest deal of his life, one that will eliminate the last of his competition, he stops for a shoeshine. Suddenly his feet are moving away from his destination, taking him far from the deal that will give him a monopoly in his field. He glances back at the bootblack who is revealed as an angel, and who says that when human laws can’t touch someone like Sledge, there are always higher laws.
