Jan is happily married to Mel Hadley. One day while cleaning she finds an old photo of herself with old boyfriend Jack Phalen which stirs up old memories. When Mel and Jan go to a party, Jan sees Jack there but realizes she no longer has her old feelings for Jack.
After being married a month, Nora and Rodney Ellis are quarreling. They are still mad when they arrive at the country club for dinner. But when their friends start criticizing their spouses to them privately, they both start sticking up for each other. By the time they leave, their quarrel was forgotten. The next morning Nora and Rodney realize their friends had just been using the tactic to help them patch up their quarrel.
Newspaper reporter May Hallet falls for Lewis Parker, financier and upright civic leader. The two are married, but are involved in a car accident on the way to their honeymoon. But May realizes she really didn't know Lewis Parker's past very well and the investigation reveals that his past did not match his legendary status.
Helen Geiger takes her younger brother Tommy fishing at the lake. Tommy gets his fishing line tangled and Walter Perkins, a voluntary warden patroling the lake, comes to help. Helen and Walter end up falling in love.
Ellen Hastings loves Lee, but rejects his proposal. The relationship between her own mother and father has soured her on marriage and she decides to put her career first. But when Ellen meets her father's second wife, she hears a different side of the story and changes her mind about marriage.
