Indexer Notes

A comics adaptation of the Gospel According to Matthew 1:1-2:13.

The style of the adaptation is somewhat different than Brown's adaptation of Mark. The shift is most noticeable in the visual treatment of the characters, which is grittier and places far more emphasis on idiosyncrasies of personality and appearance.

This issue's installment is 11 and 2/3 pages. The first third of the opening page features the final two panels of the "Ed the Happy Clown" episode.

Chester Brown drew the masthead and handlettered the letters page. It includes letters from Matt Madden and Bernie Mireault. Mireault's photocopied letter includes a drawing of Bunny. Both letters appear on the second page. Brown also discusses his references for his Gospels adaptations. The section concludes with endnotes for the installment of the Matthew adaptation in this issue.
