Sgt. Bill Miner worries about his younger brother and fellow US Marine Tommy and tries to look out for him, but they're assigned to separate details during a land invasion in Korea. However, Tommy proves himself in battle and Bill decides he doesn't have to take care of him any longer.
Sailor Donald York is sent to scout Japanese guns on an island in the Pacific. York finds the Japanese are preparing to retake Iwo Jima, but gets the location to his forces and escapes back to his submarine safely.
Navy pilot Al Conway is frustrated at having to escort bombers with his jet because they move so slowly it makes him vulnerable. Playing on that, he pretends his plane is damaged to lull enemy planes into pursuing him, then leads them into a perfect ambush.
After losing the Concord in battle against the Japanese destroyer Yamato, Captain Ellsworth is given command of Victory and leads it after Yamato, despite his crew's hesitations. They finally engage and destroy the Yamato.
