Indexer Notes

Ashe signed this story on the front page, right behind the name of the creator and owner of The Saint, Leslie Charteris. An earlier GCD index listed this. An indexer removed Ashe and put Bernard Klein as the artist, apparently because the Who's Who only lists Klein drawing the Saint circa 1942. As Ashe signed this art, and it looks like his work and not like that of Klein, the credit has been reverted back.
Lev Gleason states in this issue that this is the most expensive feature in comics, due to getting the Saint creator to write this comic.

Continued next issue.

Writer credit verified by the Who's Who.

The Who's Who lists Fitz (who is on the by-line) as an artist who worked at Lev Gleason on various features in 1941-42, but not specifically on Red Reed. This story is illustrated by Everett......verified by Blake Bell in The Bill Everett Archives #2.

The last panel, a blurb for the next issue's story, is signed "W.B.E." (which stands for William Blake Everett).
