Indexer Notes

Art submitted on Oct. 9, 1943. Synopsis by Michael Barrier from "Carl Barks and the Art of the Comic Book" (M. Lilien, 1982). Story has been heavily edited in the reprint. A title, "What a Parrot," has been added to the splash panel, as well as a facsimile "Carl Barks" signature. Most dialog has been re-lettered and changed, names have been changed or deleted (El Macaw, the parrot, is now called simply "the parrot"), the label on a box of fireworks has been changed from "Satanic Fireworks Assortment" to "Fun Fire Crackers," etc. Coloring mistakes abound (in one panel, Benny refers to "red leaves" but they are colored green in the reprint.) Possibly a re-translation from a non-English source.
