Caricatures of artists include page 1, panel 3, Al Williamson as the top man; Angelo Torres as the middle man and Dick Giordano as the bottom man (he is also the straight shooter on page 2, panel 1). Gil Kane is the doctor on the stagecoach on page 3 and 4. Phil Seuling is the sheriff on the last page of the story.

El Diablo's origin and other identity of Lazarus Lane is not revealed until issue #3.
