- Synopsis
- Abby's mother was accused of murdering old Mr. Gage years before, but died before trial. Abby now works as the companion for old Mrs. Gage. She falls in love with wealthy Jay, which upsets Thora, old Mrs. Gage's granddaughter. Thora tries to frame Abby for attempted murder of old Mrs. Gage but Abby and Jay are too smart for her. Thora is also exposed as the accidental murderer of her grandfather, thus clearing Abby's late mother. Jay and Abby will wed.

Gil tells Betty that Melinda convinced him to write a false note. Gil and Betty are married.

- Carrie wants escape from poverty and uses lies and deceit to achieve her goals. She moves to the city and pretends to be a socialite who gets a job because she's "tired of being of a social butterfly." Wealthy Jonathan proposes marriage to Carrie and asks to meet her mother. Carrie, realizing her deception would be discovered, goes home but Jon tracks her down and says he doesn't care about her background.
