- Synopsis
- Janet leaves her boyfriend Jim and cruel stepmother, intending to start a new life in New York. On the trip, she meets Ann, recently returned from China after many years. Ann is killed when their train crashes, and Janet is mistaken for her. She moves in with Ann’s rich uncle and aunt and falls in love with their neighbor Roger. Jim shows up and tries to get money from Janet’s “uncle,” but Janet confesses the truth. Roger and her aunt and uncle say they still love her.
Plot is somewhat reminiscent of Cornell Woolrich's novel "I Married a Dead Man" (1948)--woman survives a train crash and is mistaken for another passenger who died.
