Helen Jerrold; Doug Schuyler; Phil
Synopsis
Helen lives on her father's farm and cooks for the hands. Phil, a young hand, loves her. Helen finds farm life boring and yearns for the sophistication of the big city. One day, she gives a lift to hitchhiker Doug Schuyler, an attractive man with a metropolitan background and no firm destination in mind. Helen takes a liking to him and persuades her father to hire him. As the days pass, Helen and Doug are drawn together and she falls in love. Doug is not suited to farm work and is eventually fired. As the days pass with no word from him, Helen's longing deepens. She steals the farm payroll to travel to the city and find him. When she does, she discovers he is a popular novelist and has written their love story into his latest comic novel. She realizes bitterly that he used her just to gather material for his book. She is hurt and humiliated, but won't go home until she has earned enough money to repay that she stole from her father. She takes a job as a waitress. When a lecherous customer corners her outside the eatery one night, a fist flattens him. She turns to find Phil beside her. He has come to take her home.

Characters
Patty Warner; Freda Adams; Mike Morris; Bob Avery
Synopsis
Frosh Patty Warner joins a sorority at Parker College but her initiation is an untraditional one and consists of manipulating a romance with Parker's halfback, Bob Avery. The unusual initiation is the brainchild of Freda Adams, an unscrupulous senior dating Mike Morris, the quarterback at Hampton College. Mike has wearied of Freda but she will go to any lengths to keep him. Freda's objective in posing the unusual task to Patty is to exhaust Bob, to make him unfit for playing good football and thus allow her boyfriend Mike to triumph in the upcoming game for Hampton College. Patty is unaware of Freda's ulterior motives but complies as ordered by her senior sorority sister. When the big game comes along, Freda wants Parker's halfback out of the game completely and concocts an elaborate plot to get him arrested and held in jail the afternoon of the game. Everything goes according to plan, but Patty informs the police about Freda's nefarious plot and Bob is released in time for the final quarter. Bob wins the game for Parker, snags a professional contract with the Wolverines incidentally, and forgives Patty. Patty is tearfully grateful.
