Synopsis
Spice company secretary Marcy agrees to marry Dr. Greg, but changes her mind when she learns he wants to specialize in studying tropical diseases rather than go into private practice. She decides to marry Foster, who’s been sent to manage a plantation in India, where Greg is also working. Marcy rejects Greg again because he has no “future.” Foster turns out to be a tyrannical overseer, mistreating the workers; when Greg rescues him from an enraged employee, Marcy sees the error of her ways and marries Greg.

Synopsis
College student Margie’s mother ran off with another man and the other residents of their small town watch Margie carefully to see if she is also “wild.” In revenge, Margie decides to date fellow student Cal, a wealthy rakehell. She falls in love with Cal then learns he’s engaged to a woman of his own social class. Cal takes her to a roadhouse and says he’d never marry a girl with Margie’s “reputation.” Stan, a longtime admirer of Margie, rescues her and Margie hopes some day she’ll reciprocate his love.

Synopsis
Carla takes a job as governess to wealthy invalid widower Jason’s children. She and her boyfriend Kit scheme to have Carla marry Jason and inherit his fortune when he dies. However, Jason’s health improves when Carla becomes his wife, so Kit instructs her to take away Jason’s will to live. The doctor tells Carla that Jason will fully recover but Jason doesn’t believe it and plans to commit suicide. Carla confesses the whole plan and admits she really loves him. They will live a happy life together.

Synopsis
Reporter Mara gets a job as Mrs. Winslow’s secretary to research a story on the wealthy but reclusive family. Mara discovers the Winslows are “fine people” and even falls in love with handsome Lance. She decides to tell the newspaper she can’t do the story but her imposture is exposed by jealous Lisa. Lance doesn’t believe Mara’s claim she was going to tell him the truth. She writes a positive story about the Winslows and reconciles with Lance.

Synopsis
Secretary Mary splurges on a vacation to ritzy Palm Beach and falls in love with Hugh, but one day he vanishes without a word. After she returns to work, Mary gets a letter from Hugh claiming he loves her but they can’t be together. She tracks him down and he says he loved showgirl Cyna but she leaped off a cliff when he accused her of cheating on him. She’s now an invalid and refuses to marry him, but Hugh gives her $10,000 a month to live on. Mary proves Cyna is not disabled and is fleecing Hugh out of the money. Hugh can now get married to Mary with a clear conscience.
