Synopsis
Vera thinks “a girl with my looks should be able to get whatever she wants,” but has to settle for a job as a clerk in a five-and-ten store. She refuses to date ordinary men, holding out for a millionaire. Her co-workers tell her store manager Bill is actually the owner’s son, so she dates him, then learns it was untrue. However, Vera discovers she really loves Bill and will marry him.

Synopsis
Small-town commercial artist Mary wins a trip to Cuba in a contest. She breaks a date with cruise ship captain Dick, instead touring Havana with Austrian emigre Pierre. Pierre romances her and she agrees to marry him so he can enter the USA. Dick tries to warn her off but she decides she really loves Pierre. After the ceremony, she learns Pierre has obtained entry into the USA on his own and even has a job offer, so their marriage was not a sham.

Synopsis
After her father’s death, Vale leaves college and becomes wealthy Marcia’s maid. She falls in love with Marcia’s nephew Ted, but Marcia convinces her that this would ruin Ted’s career. Vale pretends to be involved with gambling club owner Steve. Steve and Ted’s ex-fiancee Arline steal a valuable diamond from Marcia and blame Vale, but eventually everything is straightened out and Vale and Ted reconcile.

Synopsis
Schoolteacher Jane is courted by Carl and Lew, who are both working on the construction of a nearby dam. Lew violently claims Jane as his girlfriend and threatens to harm Carl if she resists. The two men fight on the dam and Jane releases water that saves Carl’s life. Carl rescues Lew, who apologises for his behaviour. Carl and Jane can now be together.
