Sent to a rural area, she meets adult student Jeff and tutors him so he can attend veterinary school. They fall in love. This upsets Mrs. Hanlon, who wants Jeff to marry her daughter Elvira. Annie is fired but will marry Jeff and help him achieve his career goals.

Gene says he’s gotten a raise, in any case. The baby’s mother had “a bad appendix” so Marian will care for the infant a while longer.
