Synopsis
Helen Evans married Joe Seller. Her parents had the marriage annulled, then Helen's doctor told her she was going to have a baby. Her parents raised the boy, Robert, as their own. Then Helen met and married John Farrell. Joe resurfaced, demanding Helen divorce John and raise Robert with him. John had Joe kicked out of town and adopted Robert.

Story starts on the inside of the front cover. Artist Charles F. "Chuck" Miller is sometimes identified as the "smiley face artist" and this is clearly in evidence here: it seems like 75% of the panels feature his distinctive smiling faces.

Synopsis
Karen set out to marry Ralph Ednie. His friend Harriet Barnes and his son David thought Ralph was only interested in Karen due to her resemblance to his late wife. Karen found she preferred David, but accepted Ralph's proposal anyway. On hearing of the engagement, David rode away on his horse and died in an accident. Karen admitted she was only interested in Ralph for his money and freed him to marry Harriet.
