Dr. Weir then tracks down Countess Arachni, who he fought in 1953 and thought he had killed, to New York, where her spider cult is. He finds that millions of baby spiders had consumed her body from the inside, and are going to infest the world. Dr. Weir uses the Purple Claw to burn all of the spiders up, but unknown to him, a few escape through the air conditioning vents.
