Originally set to be published in Bad News #3. Inspired partly by an Art Spiegelman lecture and an experimental comics class at the School of Visual Arts. Inspiration also came from McGuire's first encounter with a Windows computer and from his own family.
An alternate version with different artwork (and in color) was published in Strapazin #59 (2000).
An updated book length version of this story was published in 2014 (Pantheon).
