As the JLA is about to greet the JSA via the transmatter machine they use to travel between Earths 1 and 2, they're suddenly surprised by the appearance of the Crime Syndicate from the other end, whom they believed were still in their limbo prison in the Earth-3 universe. The JLA then travel to Earth-2 to surmise what's happened to their friends, and once there find it's been taken over by Per Degaton circa 1942. They then travel back in time alongside their JSA allies to 1942 (freed from the Syndicate's prison), and meet the All-Stars in the JSA's original headquarters.
