Carol C. had three boys in love with her which was great for her until she had to decide who would take her to the prom. But first she had to pass her trigonometry exam or she wouldn't be allowed to go at all. As she studied, her three beaus (Tom, Dick, and Harry) all called asking her to go with each of them and she agreed to go with all three. She passed the exam; now who does she choose? Doris Bigelow told Carol to explain to two of the boys that she was busy studying and that they would understand. Or would they?
Alice Clark's father was a night station manager and her mother worked during the day so one of them was always asleep which made it difficult to have her friends over, and that her parents did not care about her. Out for a walk the next day, Alice decided to join some neighbors to watch the town parade and became entranced with Campo the magician. When he asked for a volunteer, Alice ran to the stage and Campo used her in his act, hypnotizing her. Planting a post-hypnotic suggestion in Alice's subconscious, she returned to help Campo with his act, dressing in skimpy costumes, wearing make-up and even allowing Campo to kiss her. The kisses become more than just part of the act, as Alice returned night after night. In the mean time, she neglected her studies, and after ridicule from class mates and town folk, decided to run away with Campo. When Campo arrived at her house before the last show, she pleaded with him to take her away and marry her. Astonished, he told her that she meant nothing to him and hired a girl like her in every town he played. Alice's parents threatened to have Campo arrested and told her how important she is to them showing her how wrong she had been... about many things.
Nancy had dated Gordon steadily, but something was missing. All he wanted to do was go to movies and baseball games, and she wanted more. When her father told her that a French student had won the chemistry scholarship he had sponsored, and suggested that she might write him to prepare him for life in America, she was thrilled. She was so thrilled, in fact, that she began ignoring Gordon. Andre wrote back lovely letters of love, and the day that they actually met was electric. But then Nancy learned that Andre was actually engaged to Fleurette who was coming to America in two weeks to marry him. At first Nancy was angry, but Gordon convinced her that she was a victim of her imagination, and that he was the one that would always be there for her.
Linda was always one of the more popular girls and when she went to a barn dance outside of Riverside, she had to work to ward off guys. Then she saw Cliff Colmar sitting to the side of the dance, drawing. She went to talk to him and he gave her a drawing he had done of her as he practiced to enter the school drawing contest to win a college scholarship. As Cliff went on and on talking about art, Linda realized she was missing out on the fun inside. Still she kept coming back to Cliff, who wanted to submit a painting of her for the contest. At first she was flattered, but seeing the finished painting, Linda was floored. To her surprise, Cliff then told her how much he loved her. But her friends thought Cliff was a bore, and she was always missing out on fun, so she went out with the gang again. The next day the newspaper headline read, "Colmar Wins National Art Scolarship" along with his painting of Linda. They were instant celebrities and Linda ran to Cliff to tell him she loved him too, but he refused to believe her until he realized it was true and decided it was time to fight for his love.
