Synopsis
After midnight in Gotham, D.J. Dark hosts his nightly radio show, a hobo is killed, Batman pursues a cocaine smuggler, and police track a murderer, Deke Mitchel, who escaped from prison and is seeking someone named Kadaver. Mitchel hides from the police amongst hazardous waste, which ignites and explodes due to a random lightning strike. Mitchel is presumed dead...

Mitchel is transformed into the Corrosive Man by the explosion at the end of the story, but is not actually referred to as the Corrosive Man until the next issue.
