Synopsis
In 1848, Nadia inherits a wealthy Hungarian estate, but her estate manager runs off with money that was supposed to pay for the land taxes. When an Austrian officer offers to forgive the land tax in exchange for her favors, she refuses and is taken prisoner. While on her way to prison along with gypsy captives, an ambush frees the prisoners and Nadia lives among the gypsies to avoid the authorities.
