Synopsis
In 1860, the Mississippi was a river of romance for Cal and Melanie. But Melanie's father insisted that Cal was not fit for his daughter and tried to arrange a marriage between Melanie and Lance St. John, since the St. Johns were the biggest landowners around. However, as war breaks out and turns against the South, pride means nothing before the death and destruction that follows.

Synopsis
Because Gwen lives in the flat next to hers, David is always using her to pass messages to Gwen. She likes David and realizes Gwen is two-timing David with other boyfriends. But when she tries to break the news to David, he thinks she is just jealous. So David decides to leave a note under Gwen's door. Hearing the sounds of a dog chewing up the note in the hallway, she rescues the note for Gwen. However, the note that Gwen actually receives has some very strategically placed words removed, changing its meaning completely.
