This story is set in the past. The scene on the first page with the boat sitting on the street in front of a Metropolis police station is very reminiscent of a similar scene in Superman: The Movie.

- Synopsis
- Superman gives a question-and-answer session after testifying before congressional committees. A woman approaches, slaps him, and says that while he was off-planet, he was unable to help people like her husband, who died of a brain tumor that Superman could have easily fixed. In the days that follow, Superman ponders this, talking with Batman and Flash, and remembering back to wisdom from his foster father. He makes a decision, and starts walking.
