This went on sale four weeks after the solicited date. "Printed by Quad/Graphics, Montreal, QC, Canada. 10/06/10."
Two covers were done for this issue; one featuring Superman with crowds of sign-waving people, and this alternate one featuring Superman punching a street (10 issues for 1 issue mixture).
For every 10 copies of the standard edition, retailers were allowed to order one copy of this variant edition.
Story continued from the previous issue, and continues in the next issue.
Danville is a thinly-veiled reference to Glenville, the Cleveland neighborhood where Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster created Superman in the 1930s. The story features Glenville High School, which is where Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel first met at the age of 16, and shows the actual facade of the building, and some of the story is set inside the school.
When this book shipped a month late, there were complaints from a retailer who had tried to publicize Superman's visit to Cincinnati with various events. The writer publicly apologized for the lateness, citing a recurring problem with bronchitis on his part.
