- Continuing... Red Wooley and Jimmy McClure search. Blueberry is ambushed by bandits and thrown in prison. He finds Trevor/Lindsay, who knows where the Confederate gold is buried. Chihuahua Pearl agrees to marry Gobernador Lopez. Red and Jimmy partner with Rebels. Blueberry and Trevor go over the wall, but are sold out. Until Red's crew rolls down a wagonful of dynamite and a herd of wild steers. Pearl dumps Lopez. Trevor leads everyone to a hidden "swallowhole" oasis, then rides off to dig up the gold...

- Continuing... Blueberry's allies find an iron-bound coffin in a church. Stealing a wagon, breaking out with booby-trapped mules and a smokescreen, they race for the border. Switching to a stage and cutting a bridge, boarding a ferry across the Rio Grande, they cut the cable and drift through rapids. Gunning down more villains, they open the box to find - lead bars. The Federale Vigo explains Juarez "borrowed" the Confederate gold to finance his revolution. The gang drifts away. Blueberry stands court-martial for stealing the gold and is sentenced to 30 years in a Federal penitentiary...

- Continuing... Dying by inches in Francisville Prison, Blueberry bluffs to reveal the Confederate gold. Warden Kelly sends him by train, but it's ambushed by Blake's bandits, who invite Blueberry to join. He moves on to Santa Fe and Guffie Palmer, a retired madame. Blake shows up with a mission: escort "Marmaduke" to Colorado, as "Angel Face" secretly practices sharpshooting with a take-down rifle. They reach Durango as President Grant visits - meet Warden Kelly! Blueberry will be tagged as the president's assassin, while "disgruntled gentlemen" seize the country's reins...
