Synopsis
Tony takes his newest date, Marion, to the circus. When the wild animals escape, he rounds them up as Iron Man. His grey armor scares the onlookers. Marion suggests that a golden metal might make him look more heroic. A golden Iron Man then battles Gargantus, who turns out to be a mighty robot built by aliens. Iron Man defeats Gargantus by hurling three magnets at him. The magnets float around the robot, ripping its body to pieces. Iron Man then throws the magnets at a flying saucer he just spotted. The aliens flee and, next day, Tony has another date with Marion.

Synopsis

Synopsis
Tony Stark sustained an injury to his heart last issue. Now he cannot remove his Iron Man armor as he needs its power to keep him alive. Happy and Pepper, unaware of Stark's dual identity, believe that Iron Man is responsible for their employer's disappearance and they call for the police. Iron Man flees but is forced to return and battle Hawkeye when he attacks Stark's factory and kidnaps Pepper. Hawkeye escapes. Elsewhere, the Black Widow taken back to Russia by her former employers. Following her rescue, Pepper is less hostile to Iron Man and persuades the police not to arrest him.

Synopsis
Pepper and Happy, unsettled by Tony Stark's disappearance, go to Iron Man and tender their resignations. The following day, Happy, playing detective, breaks in to Stark's home. Tony is wearing his armor but not his helmet. He conceals his armor by jumping into bed. He assures Happy that all is well and that Iron Man should be trusted. The Mandarin uses his giant space-laser to destroy much of Stark's factory. He seemingly kills Stark. Stark as Iron Man disguises himself as a bearded man in a large coat, and boards a plane for China. He confronts Koto, the Mandarin's robot, and is defeated.

Synopsis
Iron Man is a prisoner of the Mandarin, held fast to a giant wheel by concentrated titanium bonds, Mandarin proceeds to relate his origin. The Mandarin then declares his intentions to conquer the world and to "spin" Iron Man to death. The Mandarin leaves, not realizing that the spinning wheel is recharging Iron Man's armor, like a bicycle wheel recharges a small generator. Iron Man then thwarts Mandarin's world-domination plan by disrupting a Chinese missile launch and then redirecting the missile back to China. They fight until the Chinese turn up, branding Mandarin a traitor. Mandarin flees.

Stark then leaves his lab, revealing that he is very much alive. This revelation causes Pepper to faint. Stark realizes that Happy loves Pepper. Stark then upsets an employee, Dr. Birch, by not making time to speak to him. Iron Man goes on to stop industrial saboteur the Phantom, who turns out to be an embittered Dr. Birch. Pepper and Happy go on a date. Tony is left alone to brood because he secretly loves Pepper too.

Tony nobly decides to leave town for a while in order to give Happy a chance to woo Pepper. Back at the plant, Small-time burglar Weasel Wills stumbles upon Iron Man's armor and and goes on a crime spree, besmirching Iron Man's good name in the process. Tony Stark returns and dons his old golden armor. The two Iron Men fight. Tony's superior knowledge of the Iron Man technology allows him to defeat Wills. Tony then returns to his office to brood.

Synopsis
Senator Byrd has come to audit Stark's factory. He is displeased that Stark kept him waiting. Happy decides to impress Pepper by offering to test Stark's new submarine. Tony insists that Iron Man does the testing. Happy leaves feeling disgruntled. Under the sea, Iron Man in the sub stumbles across Attuma who is preparing to attack the surface world. They battle. Iron Man destroys Attuma's weapon by ramming it with the sub. Iron Man survives the resulting explosion and has to explain the failure of the test to Byrd, who is highly critical of Stark. Happy, meanwhile, is nowhere to be found.

Synopsis
The Dream-Maker (formerly Count Nefaria) creates hallucinations ("dreams") in which Iron Man must battle some of his former enemies in his sleep. Iron Man then travels to Ireland in pursuit of an unhappy Happy, who walked off in a huff last issue. The Dream-Maker continues to torment Iron Man. Iron Man battles bravely and a ranting Dream-Master feels he must add more power to his machine. This results in a short-circuit which causes the machine to explode. Iron Man dismisses the episode as just a dream. Meanwhile, Pepper calls Pepper and persuades him to return to the States.

Synopsis
Happy has returned to Stark's factory. Pepper is very pleased to see him but Happy doubts her sincerity. Stark's philandering cousin, Morgan, envious of Tony's success, agrees to help Count Nefaria in his scheme to discredit Stark. This involves Tony witnessing and reporting a (fake) alien invasion. Believing Stark to be delusional, Senator Byrd is ready to pull the plug on his contracts. When some real aliens turn up they are chased off by Iron Man. Morgan is compelled to verify Tony's version of events. Tony's good name is restored. Morgan must explain himself to a displeased Nefaria.

At the hotel, the Countess de la Spiroza flirts with Tony, making Pepper jealous. Iron Man battles Titanium Man but stumbles into a secretly-prepared minefield and is caught up in the resulting explosion. Happy wonders why Tony hasn't come to watch the battle.

Synopsis
The Battle between Iron Man and Titanium Man continues. Meanwhile, the Countess de la Spirosa, seeking revenge on Tony Stark for having once been jilted, steals a transistor device from Stark's hotel room. Between rounds Iron Man discovers the theft and the identity of the culprit. He sends Happy to retrieve the device, which he needs to give him an edge in the battle ahead. Happy returns with it but round two has begun. He enters the battleground but is injured by Titanium Man. He hands the device to Iron Man and passes out. Pepper, watching, collapses. The battle has now become personal!

Synopsis
Iron Man defeats Titanium Man, but at the price of Happy's health. As Happy lies dying in hospital Tony is forced to recharge his armor. Tony finally arrives at the hospital and greets Pepper. The Countess is there too and wants Tony's attention, but he tells her to shut up after she makes an unpleasant remark about Pepper. The Countess leaves, slamming the door. Tony is unable to to explain his tardiness in visiting Happy. A specialist doctor arrives, operates on Happy, and then suggests that Pepper and Tony go home. Pepper believes that Tony is heartless and harbors bad feelings towards him.

Synopsis
Back in New York Iron Man is lauded for his victory over Titanium Man. An aggrieved Countess Stephanie de la Spirosa visits the Mad Thinker to enlist his aid in discovering Iron Man's identity. The Awesome Android is sent to abduct Tony Stark. In the Mad Thinker's lab Tony tricks his foes with a sleep gas-filled briefcase. He dons his armor and defeats the Android. The Thinker's lab explodes. Iron Man rescues the Thinker and the Countess. Meanwhile, in hospital, Happy's condition has worsened. Tony cannot visit him because he needs to recharge his chest plate, much to Pepper's annoyance!

Synopsis
Tony, in his Iron Man armor, goes to the hospital to see an ailing Happy, but he has been abducted by the Black Knight. A weakened Iron Man battles the Black Knight in and around a castle on the outskirts of Washington. Both are injured in a fall. Iron Man radios for help and Happy is rescued by the emergency services. As they take Happy away they fail to see Iron Man collapsed on the floor and in distress. Meanwhile, Senator Boyd continues to issue threats against Stark for not revealing the secret of Iron Man's armor.

Iron Man battles the Freak but is defeated when his power runs out. The Freak makes his way to Stark's lab where Pepper is dealing with an angry Senator Byrd. Byrd thinks the Freak is trying to attack Pepper and courageously tries to defend her. He is thrown across the room by the Freak. Pepper faints. The Freak lifts Pepper in his arms but drops her from an upstairs window when shot at by the police. Iron Man breaks her fall with his repulsor ray and then, back in the lab, fires his Enervation Intensifier at the Freak in a bid to change him back into Happy.

The Freak turns back into Happy, but loses his memory. Senator Byrd, with a police escort, serves Stark with a subpoena and orders him to go with them to Washington. Pepper is disgusted at Stark's casual attitude and seeming lack of concern for Happy. Enter the Mandarin, who drives off some invading Chinese soldiers and, at the same time, abducts Stark on his way to a court hearing by means of a teleportation device. Mandarin dumps Stark's briefcase into the moat of his castle, in case it contains an explosive device, and then prepares to unleash Ultimo, his greatest creation.

Synopsis
A frenzied Sub-Mariner attacks the weakened Iron Man in his lab. Iron Man tricks Subby into throwing him into a reinforced safe room where his is able to close the door and recharge his armor. Sub-Mariner is also in need of a recharge so he flies off to take a quick dip in the ocean. Meanwhile the police arrive at Stark Industries and accuse Iron Man of wanton damage. Pepper and Happy have turned up too. A refreshed Sub-Mariner prepares himself for round two!

Synopsis
Tony Stark, as Iron Man, flies to Washington to attend his court hearing with Senator Byrd. Meanwhile, in an unnamed Communist Bloc country, an improved Titanium Man undergoes a final test before being launched by rocket, coincidentally, also towards Washington. An air force jet intercepts the giant rocket and fires a warning shot. Titanium Man rips his way out of the rocket and is immediately confronted by Iron Man.

Synopsis
Iron Man frees Pepper from the Titanium Man's paralysis beam and then goes on to defeat him on live T.V. A final, deafening blast from Titanium Man's restores Happy's memory. Titanium Man flies off to his supposed rendezvous with the a submarine, but is abandoned by his masters before he gets there and is left to languish in the ocean. Iron Man is a hero. Even Senator Byrd is rooting for him. Tony Stark appears. Pepper hugs him - she appears to have forgiven him for his recent seeming transgressions! Happy, memory intact, now knows the truth -- that Stark is Iron Man!
