"The Warren Companion" argues it is a headache that makes some sort of sense in that there are 12 wildly numbered issues before issue 13... including the argument that "Ring of Warlords", which is clearly marked number 1, comes in at number 5, and there are a few skipped numbers later (7, 10-11). The issue marked #4 is reportedly a non-comics Aliens movie magazine based on material from Famous Monsters. Number 14 is Rex Havoc., with a few other later unnumbered non-comics issues.
