Synopsis
While the old guard JSAers settle into their temporary base of operations in the JLA's old cave headquarters, a mysterious being enters the facility and takes control of Dr. Fate's body. But having recently been infiltrated by a villain, the JSA is alert to the intruder, force him from Fate's body, and stand face-to-face with Mordru the Merciless.

Synopsis
As Kent Nelson struggles to figure out what Mordru did to the JSA, each of the heroes faces challenges designed specifically for him or her, including Green Lantern who faces the mage himself. Kent retrieves the JSAers from the pocket dimensions in which Mordru has imprisoned them just before Mordru's and Green Lantern's fight brings them back to JSA headquarters. Kent knows that Mordru can't work a spell if he can't focus, so he tells Lightning to hit Mordru over and over until they can knock him out. Green Lantern combines the universes into one and puts the wizard there for safe-keeping.

Synopsis
Twenty years in the future, Mr. Terrific continues to recount how the JSA was defeated by the Fourth Reich. Though the heroes had the upper hand, Shadow of War revealed their weapon, the Darkness Engine, powered by Obsidian, which nullified the JSA's powers. Synopsis
Mr. Terrific continues to tell how 20 years ago the Darkness Engine, powered by Obsidian, removed all super-powers and cut off Earth from outside help. Today, however, is Batman's execution day, an execution to be witnessed not only by the prisoner ex-superheroes and Michael, but the führer himself, Jeremy Karnes. After the execution Jaime Reyes, the former Blue Beetle, attacks the faux collaborator Mr. Terrific as planned, resulting in two more shocking deaths.

Synopsis
Michael is able to get a message back in time so that the JSA can "hatch" Obsidian from his egg-state and change the course of history. Armed with Mr. Terrific's foreknowledge, the JSA easily defeats the Fourth Reich in the real timeline. In the days that follow, the JSAers take care of personal business and face the Black Lanterns, before Green Lantern is brought down by a green meteorite.
