Notes:

The Governor first appeared in The Walking Dead (Image, 2003 series) #27 (April 2006). Michonne bit off his left ear in issue #28 (May 2006), and cut off his right arm and penis, and gouged out his left eye, in issue #33 (December 2006). The Governor was killed in issue #48 (April 2008).

The Governor's first name was given as Philip in issue #29 (June 2006) and as Phillip in issue #47 (March 2008). His surname was not revealed in the comics. According to the novel "The Walking Dead: Rise of the Governor" (2011) by Robert Kirkman and Jay Bonansinga, the Governor is actually Brian Blake, the older brother of the real Philip Blake and uncle of Penny Blake. When Philip is killed, Brian inexplicably takes his brother's name and considers Penny as his own daughter.
