Bruce Wayne first appeared as Batman in Detective Comics (DC, 1937 series) #27 (May 1939). His origin was not revealed until Detective Comics (DC, 1937 series) #33 (November 1939). He took an orphan named Dick Grayson as his sidekick, Robin, in Detective Comics (DC, 1937 series) #38 (April 1940). Bruce hired a butler named Alfred in Batman (DC, 1940 series) #16 (April-May 1943). Batman's origin was expanded upon in Batman (DC, 1940 series) #47 (June-July 1948), wherein it was revealed that Joe Chill murdered the Waynes. Dick learned in Detective Comics (DC, 1937 series) #226 (December 1955) that a teenaged Bruce had studied with detective Harvey Harris wearing the Robin costume. A teenaged Bruce used the alias The Flying Fox in Adventure Comics (DC, 1938 series) #275 (August 1960). A yellow oval was first added to Batman's chest emblem in World's Finest Comics (DC, 1941 series) #141 (May 1964). Dick Grayson quit as Batman's partner in Batman (DC, 1940 series) #217 (December 1969). The Batman of Earth-Two was introduced in Justice League of America (DC, 1960 series) #82 (August 1970). A teenaged Bruce used the alias The Executioner in Superboy (DC, 1949 series) #182 (February 1972). Batman first used the disguise of Matches Malone in Batman (DC, 1940 series) #242 (June 1972). Jason Todd became the new Robin in Batman (DC, 1940 series) #366 (December 1983). Batman's history was revised in Batman (DC, 1940 series) #404 (February 1987) - #407 (May 1987) by Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli. In the post-Crisis continuity, Jason Todd became Robin in Batman (DC, 1940 series) #410 (August 1987). Batman unknowingly conceived a son with Talia al Ghul in Batman: Son of the Demon (DC, 1987 series) ([December] 1987). Jason was murdered by the Joker in Batman (DC, 1940 series) #427 ([Winter] 1988), but he was later resurrected. Tim Drake became the next Robin in Batman (DC, 1940 series) #457 (December 1990). Stephanie Brown became Robin in Robin (DC, 1993 series) #126 (July 2004). Damian Wayne finally met his father, Batman, in Batman (DC, 1940 series) #656 (October 2006). Damian first wore a Robin costume in Batman (DC, 1940 series) #657 (November 2006).
