Description:
Pre-Crisis: Exiled from his own planet where he once ruled, Mongul attempts unsuccessfully to conquer both Warworld and Throneworld, defeated twice by Superman. Eventually he falls victim to the Black Mercy plant, falling into a perpetual dream-state where his dreams come true.

Post-Crisis: Mongul is the ruler of Warworld, a planet he uses to entertain the populace by hosting gladiatorial games. Losing leadership of this planet in a struggle with Superman and others, he is determined to turn Earth into another Warworld.
