Kro first appeared in The Eternals (Marvel, 1976 series) #1 (July 1976).

It was revealed in Marvel Universe (Marvel, 1998 series) #7 (December 1998) that Kro had used the alias Pluto when he fought Mercury/Hurricane (Makkari) in the 1940s. It was previously mentioned in issue #6 (November 1998) that he had also used the aliases Rudolph Hendler and Paul Sayden. This retcon confirms two aliases of Pluto apply to Kro and implies a third: Rudolph Hendler from Red Raven Comics (Marvel, 1940 series) #1 (August 1940), Paul Sayden from Captain America Comics (Marvel, 1941 series) #1 (March 1941), and S. Devile from Captain America Comics (Marvel, 1941 series) #3 (May 1941).
