Description:
An oil baron who pursues adventure across the world with his friend Bob Daley, until World War II, when the cruise ship he was supposed to be on was shot down by the Nazis and he was presumed dead. Thereafter he decided to wear a patriotic uniform, invented a magic carpet that he wore as a cape, and carried a whip to fight the war for his country, as Mr. America the Americommando.

Tex Thomson first appeared in Action Comics (DC, 1938 series) #1 (June 1938). He became Mr. America in Action Comics (DC, 1938 series) #33 (February 1941). He formally changed his name to the Americommando in Action Comics (DC, 1938 series) #54 (November 1942). He debuted as the mysterious Coordinator of Hero Hotline (known only as "Harry") in Action Comics Weekly (DC, 1988 series) #637 (January 31, 1989).
