Biography: Abian A. "Wally" Wallgren worked as a newspaper cartoonist for the Philadelphia Public Ledger and Washington Post before World War I. He served in France with the Fifth Marines of the First Division during the War. He created the cartoon 'Helpful Hints' for The Stars and Stripes, collected in Wally - His Cartoons of the A.E.F.
