Biography: Álvaro Martínez Bueno is an American comic artist of Spanish origin, known for his work for comic book publishers Marvel Comic, DC Comics and Valiant.
In 2004 Álvaro Martínez Bueno (Torrelavega, 1982) graduated in Fine Arts from the University of Salamanca and began his artistic career in the field of advertising creativity, developing illustrations and storyboards for brands such as Coca Cola, Vodafone, Orange, Ikea, McDonalds , El Corte Inglés or, among others, the Community of Madrid.
In these early years he also illustrates several books, an activity that combines with the graphic design of albums and musical posters and work as a storyboard artist for films, in films such as Lo Imposible, by JA Bayona, or Zipi and Zape and the Club de la Marble.
In 2013 he made the leap to the American comic industry, making his debut as an artist at the hands of Valiant Entertainment with a collaboration in the Harbinger and Archer & Armstrong comics.
Joined almost immediately by Marvel, Álvaro Martínez Bueno then works on pencils for the Iron Man Annual, Ultimate Comics X-Men and Cataclism: Ultimate X-Men series.
Since 2014 Álvaro Martínez Bueno becomes part of the DC Comics artists team, for whom he begins by illustrating various issues of Aquaman, Convergence: Booster Gold, Grayson, Robin War or Teen Titans.
In 2016 Martinez takes a leap into the DC Universe, leading series such as Grayson, Batman Eternal and its continuation, Batman & Robin Eternal and, more recently, one of the most successful series of the relaunch of Detective Comics Rebirth, the mythical series Detective Comics
He currently works as an exclusive artist for DC leading the pencils of Justice League Dark.
Throughout his career, Martínez Bueno has illustrated scripts by James Tynion IV, Tom King or Tim Seeley and has collaborated with artists such as inks Stefano Gaudiano and Raül Fernández, his most faithful companion to inks since 2014.
