Biography: In 1914, for the New York Evening Journal, Ramsey worked as a staff artist. In 1928, for The Philadelphia Public Ledger, he also worked as a staff artist.

In the 1930s during the Great Depression, using the alias, Ray Ramsey, he drew pen and ink story illustrations for pulps: in All Western, Super Sports, Western Romances, and All Sports.

He signed his pulp illustrations with the initials "RR" in which the first letter is written backwards.

In 1939 he began drawing comic books: Keen Detective Funnies, Funny Picture Stories, Blue Bolt; and for Gilbertson's Classics Illustrated (The Count of Monte Christo, Ivanhoe, The Last of the Mohicans). His last assignments were for Western's Dell Comics in 1952 (in Roy Rogers; Wildfire; Gene Autry).
