Biography: Dick MacKay is best known in comic books for his work on the Fawcett feature, Richard Richard, Private Dick from 1943 to 1944 and 1946 to 1948.

He was the artist on the comic panel Looking Ahead for Associated Newspapers from 1945 to 1949.

MacKay also did advertising comics and cartoons that appeared in newspapers from the 1930s into the 1960s. The Long-Suffering Male was his primary advertising comic panel for Harvester Cigars that ran from the 1940s to the 1950s. He was also an artist for the advertising feature, Lighter Moments with Fresh Eveready Batteries, which appeared from 1944 to 1945.
