Biography: Don Thompson was a science fiction fan and writer, who with his wife Maggie, was instrumental in establishing comics fandom in the 1960s. He and Maggie published "Comic Art," and "Newfangles", the latter a monthly mimeographed newszine that had a circulation of over 600 when they folded it. Don worked for the Cleveland Press from 1962 until it folded in 1982. He and Maggie became editors of the Comics Buyer's Guide when it was purchased from Alan Light by Krause Publications. They were co-editors of the weekly adzine for 11 years until his death of a heart attack.
