Notes:: Gaston est un personnage créé par André Franquin dans le journal de Spirou no 985 du 28 février 1957 et qui totalise 1036 apparitions. Gaston Lagaffe est un gaffeur, le plus souvent involontaire, de par ses actions ou les conséquences inattendues de ses actes. Les gags burlesques s’enchaînent donc, d’abord en cartoons (dessin seul), puis en bande dessinée d’une demi-planche, puis d’une planche – très rarement plus.
Dans la série Gaston, Gaston Lagaffe travaille au journal de Spirou. Il gagne le statut de héros sans emploi. Dans cet univers, Fantasio est le rédacteur en chef du journal de Spirou et il dirige les employés. Ainsi, c’est Fantasio qui présente Gaston lors de sa première apparition.
Spirou est le héros du magazine; il fait de brèves apparitions ponctuelles puis disparaît quasiment au fil des albums.
Franquin avait conçu Gaston pour faire de l’animation dans le Journal de Spirou.
La forme graphique de Gaston est élaborée par Franquin, alors que sa personnalité est créée avec l’aide d’Yvan Delporte, rédacteur-en-chef de Spirou. Le nom de Gaston, lui aussi, est trouvé par Delporte, d’après celui de l’un de ses amis, qui était gaffeur lui aussi.
[Gaston is a character created by André Franquin in “Journal de Spirou” no 985 of February 28, 1957 and which totals 1036 appearances. Gaston Lagaffe is a blunder, usually involuntary, due to his actions or the unintended consequences of his actions. The burlesque gags are linked, first in cartoons (drawing alone), then in comics of a half-page, then a page – very rarely more.
In the series Gaston, Gaston Lagaffe works at the Journal de Spirou, the Dupuis’ comics magazine. He gains the status of unemployed hero. In this universe, Fantasio is the editor of the Spirou newspaper and he directs the employees. Thus, it is Fantasio who presents Gaston during his first appearance.
Spirou is the hero of the magazine; he makes brief punctual appearances and then disappears almost throughout the albums.
Franquin had designed Gaston for animation in the Journal de Spirou.
Gaston’s graphic form was developed by Franquin, while his personality was created with the help of Yvan Delporte, editor-in-chief of Spirou. Gaston’s name, too, is found by Delporte, according to that of one of his friends, who was also a blunder.]
