Li'l Eight Ball is a stereotypical caricature of a small African-American child living in the southern United States.

Having appeared in only three theatrical animated shorts, all in 1939, Li'l Eight Ball had a much longer life in comic books than on the screen, appearing as a component feature of he Dell Comics title “New Funnies”/”Walter Lantz New Funnies” (issues 65-126) and one issue of its predecessor “The Funnies” #64 (1942).
