Sentinel Louie was created by Otto Soglow and first appeared sometime in 1933 and lasted until sometime in 1943. The strip was syndicated by King Features Syndicate.

It began as a topper comic strip to "The Ambassador" and on September 9, 1934, became the topper comic strip to "The Little King".

Sentinel Louie's first known appearance in comic books was in King Comics (David McKay, 1936 series) #4 (July 1936), and it ran through #91 (November 1943).
