- Synopsis
- Now within sight of White Cathay, Arak and his band of followers are warned by Johannes not to look directly upon the glow of the city in the distance. But, Valda can't help but look up when a rare roc flies by overhead, and she's blinded by the glare of Cathay's magic mirror. However, a cure for the blindness can be found in the roc's nest, and Satyricus rapidly climbs a cliffside to retrieve it. Of course, Arak then needs to rescue Satyricus, but all ends well and Valda's sight is restored. In return, she finally forgives Satyricus for his attempted seduction of her when they first met.

- Synopsis
- It's Christmas-time and the yule fire is burning in the court of Carolus Magnus. But, when the king's misshapen eldest son, Pip, gives him a gift of a tree bearing several kinds of fruit, Carolus Magnus angrily declares it blasphemous and demands that the tree be destroyed. In despair, Pip inadvertently douses the yule fire, causing wind demons to attack from down the chimney. Malagigi repels the spirits, but Pip is banished for his blasphemy. But, was it really his fault? Baron Ovis seems to be taking great pleasure in observing these happenings...
