Synopsis

The Rat King saves Anita from a were-rat who is menacing her. Anita is taken for an audience with the head Vampire of St. Louis, Nikolaos. Nikolaos pressures Anita into investigating the vampire murders taking place around the city if Anita ever wants her best friend taken out from under another vampire's thrall. As the meeting turns violent, Anita and Zachary run while Jean-Claude covers there escape. On the way out of the building, Anita is met by Valentine.

Synopsis

Anita has a small confrontation with her old nemesis, Valentine. Arriving back at her apartment, Anita finds that the vampire killer Edward has broken in and is looking for information about the hiding place of Nikoloas. After having frightening nightmares about Jean-Claude, Anita tells her troubles to her work-out buddy, Veronica.

Synopsis

Anita heads to the office and talks to her boss about her investigation into the vampire murders. Anita hooks up with the very human vampire boy-toy Phillip and the two pound the pavement looking for information. Phillip tells Anita that all of the vamps who have been killed attended Freak Parties where humans and vampires mingle freely. The stakes are raised as more vampires are killed.
