Synopsis
Amelia is horrified that her recently-divorced mother is going on a date. Reggie offers to help Amelia spy on the couple, and their expedition turns into a disaster for all concerned.
Facing the first day of school, the kids are tempted to run away, but tough it out anyway. Amelia remembers a time when she and Sunday tried running away. Tanner is stunned to find her albums in the remaindered bin in her own hometown, but like the kids she finally faces the reality of the situation. She continues to make music on her own.
Kyle invites Amelia on her first date, to a dance at the Catholic school. Amelia and Hannigan try to support Joan, whose father is being deployed overseas for a one-year assignment in a war zone.

Synopsis
In response to Amelia's questions, Tanner and Mary dig out a box of family keepsakes and tell her the story of their family history, from their first arrival in America around 1900 up to the birth of Amelia.
Several of Amelia's friends arrive at her house, all with different reasons for doing so, and Reggie expatiates on the glories (and definition) of hanging out.
