Hazel and Jan are inspired when they read about 'Teenager Special Smile Week'. Unfortunately, her boyfriend Ted's motorbike has been damaged and he thinks Hazel is laughing at a recent misfortune. Later, he believes Hazel is flirting and the pair fight. Ted refuses to take Hazel's phone calls and starts going out with Carol. The two girls find that a smile isn't enough and decide that action to help others is needed as well. Ted finds Hazel in the library helping out and joins them--he misses Hazel's crazy schemes.
Starlet Diana Shield and established actor Bibb Harker are starring together in a movie. They pretend to be romantically involved in front of Hollywood columnist Sheila Ames, because the publicity would help Diana's career. But both Diana and Bibb have a hard time figuring out where the pretending stops and reality begins.

Synopsis
Linda meets Frankie at the garage her father uses. He sweeps her off her feet and she soon agrees to marry him. While Linda initially ignores the rumours that Frankie is fooling around, she finds out it is true and leaves to stay with her Aunt Elsie. Frankie follows and Linda learns to stop worshipping him as a hero and understand him as a real person. He's been afraid because he can't live up to her worship.
When school junior, Bucky, crashes his car and damages his knee, he's no longer a sports star and Tina dumps him. Bucky sees Tina for what she is and moves on with his life, focusing on his studies. But Tina doesn't forget Bucky and she learns about herself as she is drawn back to Bucky.
